What is a model aviation SIG?

Clovis Area Modelers has several SIGs (Special Interest Groups) that help focus and support the many facets of Model Aviation from FreeFlight to RC Turbine Jets.  At present, there are 21 AMA recognized SIGs such IMAC, JPO, LSF, NMPRA, and SAM to name a few. Each group have interests that require unique support and representation. Clovis Area Modelers supports most all of them.

Will there be vendors?

Yes. CAM (ClovisRC) which is hosting the Heli Over California event has invited over 20+ Heli Vendors to attend.

Can I fly my GA aircraft to the event?

To Peg Field No. KFAT Yes, it is a commercial airport that has airline service from Alaska, Allegiant, American, Are Mexico, Delta, Southwest, United and Volaris. Verify service is available through your air carrier of choice.

Is there a GA airport nearby?

Yes. Reedley Muni. AvGas, Jet fuel and A&P available. No rental cars. Contact the club if pickup is needed.

Are there hotels nearby?

Yes. The towns of Sanger, Reedley, Fresno and Clovis have numerous hotels. We have partnered with the Wyndham Garden in Fresno.

Does any hotel offer an event rate?

Yes. CAM has arranged a discount rate at the Wyndham Garden in Fresno. Use this link for pre-arranged discounts for the event.

Are Rvs allowed at the flying site?

Yes. Motorhomes, travel trailers, toy haulers, and cargo trailers allowed and encouraged; however, there are no hook-ups. Dry camping only.

Are there any stores nearby?

Yes. There are convenience stores located at Minkler, Centerville, Reedley and Sanger. There are two gas stations with a store on their property. These are located on the way to the field on CA 180 East and Academy Ave. Approximately 10 miles or 15 minutes away.

My family is coming too. Is there anything for them to do?

Yes. In the Central Valley depending on when the event is, you don’t want to miss the Blossom Trail (Spring) and the largest water park in California, Wild Water Adventures Waterpark.

1. Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon Parks.
2. Casinos, there are three in the area.
3. Monterey Bay Aquarium, 17 Mile Drive, Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. The coast is about a 4 hour drive.
4. Numerous wineries and tasting rooms.
5. Castle Air Museum (1.5 hours North of Fresno).
6. Hiller Aviation Museum. This is near San Francisco Int’l Airport.
